Zanker is a unique recycling facility and receives hundreds of request for tours annually. We are now offering tours to school groups, community groups, individuals, and organizations. To book a tour, click on an available date below in orange, then click on the Book button and fill out the reservation form. A confirmation email will be sent to you confirming the date and reservation. There is no charge for the tour. Tour dates are limited to Thursday mornings at 10:00am - 11:30pm. Please read the requirements below.
There is a limit of 10 adults or 14 people, including children for the tour. A minimum of 5 adults is required to meet quota for each tour. Individuals may be combined with other groups to accommodate a significant number of attendees for the tour. If tour quota is not reached tour date will be cancelled. You will be informed to sign up for a later date.
Zanker tours are conducted using a large passenger van. Attendees will not be allowed on or around the facility operations or equipment because of safety issues. Please allow 1-1½ hours for the tour. Tours may be canceled because of inclement weather.

Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge, the first urban National Wildlife Refuge established in the United States, is dedicated to preserving and enhancing wildlife habitat, protecting migratory birds, protecting threatened and endangered species, and providing opportunities for wildlife-oriented recreation and nature study for the surrounding communities.
